WHAT DOES
“LICENSED ARCHITECT” MEANS ?
Licensed architect meaning

A "licensed architect" refers to an individual who has obtained the necessary professional license or certification to practice architecture legally in a specific jurisdiction. Licensing requirements for architects vary from country to country and sometimes even within different states or provinces within a country.

To become a licensed architect, an individual typically needs to complete a formal education in architecture from an accredited institution and gain relevant professional experience. They may also need to pass a series of examinations which tests their knowledge and competency in various aspects of architecture.

Being a licensed architect means that the individual has met the specific requirements set by the licensing board or professional regulatory body in their jurisdiction. It indicates that they have demonstrated a certain level of knowledge, skill, and expertise in the field of architecture and are legally authorized to offer architectural services, including designing, planning, and overseeing the construction of buildings and structures.

It is important to note that using the title "architect" or offering architectural services without the appropriate license or registration can be illegal and may carry penalties in many countries. Therefore, the term "licensed architect" emphasizes that the individual has met the necessary qualifications and can practice architecture in a professional and authorized capacity.

In practical terms, only “licensed architects” are authorised to legally sign projects for any official procedure, with that, assuming the responsibility for the project.

It’s important to note that in some country non-licensed architects call themselves “architects” anyway, despite being draftsman, interior designer or other. Although these professions could still meet your needs, bear in mind that should you need a signature, you will still need to involve a licensed architect, who will need to approve the project, before signing it. Therefore, better to clarify your projects needs as soon as possible, and include the right professionals early on in the project to avoid wasting time and money.
